Mixing (remote)
You send printed tracks or a session export; we build a stereo mix that holds up on studio monitors and earbuds alike, with clear feedback checkpoints.

Mixing is when separate recordings become a song: vocal forward, drums tight, bass that does not fight the kick, and a stereo field that does not collapse on a phone speaker. At Ocularniva this happens entirely online — you do not need to visit the Kinkerstraat, but you do need to deliver clear files.
Mix engineer Lotte Vermeer works from our control room in Amsterdam on material you upload or ship on drive. Each job includes 2 revision rounds from your time-stamped notes. Read how to send stems for mix before exporting; it cuts back-and-forth mail about missing tracks.
How it works
- 01
Intake
Describe genre, references, and deadline. Within 2 business days we confirm fit and whether single or EP pricing applies.
- 02
Delivery
Printed WAV stems or a clearly labelled session export, plus a rough mix if you have one. Note sample rate and tempo in the cover message.
- 03
Mix pass
Lotte builds balance, EQ, compression, sends, and automation. First mix version within the agreed window, usually within 10 days after complete delivery.
- 04
Revision
You send one bundled feedback list per round. After 2 rounds the mix is done; extra rounds are billable by the hour on request.
What we need from you
Ideally each song arrives as separate tracks: drums (or kick, snare, overheads split), bass, harmonic instruments, lead vocal, backing vocals, and synths as needed. Every file starts at time zero or includes clear offset info. No mp3 for core tracks unless we agree upfront on limitations.
Include a rough mix — even a phone bounce helps — plus two or three reference tracks whose loudness or low-end behaviour you want to approach without cloning. State BPM, key, and whether tempo automation exists. Our guide how to send stems for mix covers folder layout and naming Lotte can import directly.
Studio workflow
Lotte works in the 22 m² control room on hybrid monitors. She checks phase on double-tracked guitars, space between vocal doubles, and whether bass translates on smaller speakers. Vocal tuning happens only on request and per project; default is natural correction, not an effect stem.
We do not mix live while you sit in the room — by design, so you can listen at home on familiar systems before feedback. Questions about choices go by email [email protected] or 020 737 2841 during office hours Tue–Sat 09–21.
Who this fits
Artists who recorded at Ocularniva or elsewhere and want a neutral second set of ears. Bands that programmed at home and want live drums blended in. Podcasters turning multitrack from our podcast recording into a release mix — without breaching music rights.
Poor fits: projects with hundreds of tracks and no priority list, or mixes due the same day as an unplanned session. We will say honestly if we need to move other clients.
Delivery
You receive a stereo mix as 24-bit WAV, default 48 kHz, with peak headroom for mastering. Instrumental and a cappella exports on request when the session allows. We do not deliver open sessions unless you buy a project archive upfront; default is export-only for compatibility.
Files sit on a secure download link; physical drive by post on request. We keep mix projects 9 months on studio storage, then delete per privacy policy.
Revisions and limits
2 revision rounds are included. One round means one email with bullet feedback, not drips over weeks. Major structural changes — new recordings, entirely different reference sound — count as a new job or add-on work.
We do not offer unlimited A/B until happy without bounds; that is in terms and conditions and keeps scheduling fair. Extra rounds are available at agreed rates.
Rates
Prices include 21% VAT. Net amounts for business invoicing: single €227.27, EP bundle €900.83.
| Package | Incl. VAT |
|---|---|
| Per song | €275 |
| EP up to 6 songs | €1,090 |
EP pricing applies when you deliver up to six songs at once with consistent stem layout. Singles in sequence bill per track. Deposit 25% on confirmation; balance before final file release unless B2B term of 21 days applies.
On to mastering
A mix leaves headroom for mastering: we do not normalize to streaming loudness in the mix stage. Lotte can hand the same project to in-house mastering so tone and loudness stay in one line.
If you only need mastering because the mix is done, book that service separately. Combine recording (vocal recording, ensemble recording) plus mix via contact for one timeline.
Not included
No recording missing parts, no rewriting arrangements, no beat replacement, no sample clearance research, no Spotify distribution. Editing timing between drums and bass beyond normal quantize help is extra.
Corrupt or mislabelled stems bill cleanup time by the hour after approval. Avoid that by following how to send stems for mix. General studio questions: services and FAQ.
