Stem delivery

Sending stems for a professional mix

Lotte Vermeer mixes remotely with 2 revision rounds per song. This guide matches Mixing (remote); tracked with us? See vocal prep before recording. Deliver via contact or an agreed link.

Two hands pass an external SSD across a wooden studio desk with gear in the background.

What we expect

A stem is one track per source, from bar one through the last reverb tail, without master-bus processing. Typical splits: drums by piece or unprocessed subgroups, dry bass, guitars panned separately, lead vocal without surprise autotune unless agreed, backing vocals grouped or split.

Include silence at the end if reverb or delay tails need space; do not cut stems short at the last transient. If you printed parallel chains, label them clearly so we know which is dry and which is effected.

Mix per song is €275; an EP up to six titles €1,090. VAT is 21%. Turnaround is about 10 business days after we receive complete, clearly named stems and your reference.

Technical baseline

Send WAV 24-bit; sample rate preferably 48 kHz if you tracked that way, or 44.1 kHz consistently — do not mix rates in one zip. Export from the same start point on every track; millisecond offsets burn mix time.

Leave headroom: peaks around -6 dBFS on individual stems are fine. Stems slammed to 0 dBFS with limiters make remixing harder. Skip heavy offline denoise or de-ess unless we plan it together.

Naming and folders

Use plain names: SongTitle_DrumKick.wav, SongTitle_BassDI.wav, SongTitle_LeadVox.wav. One folder per song plus a text file with tempo, key and tuning reference (A=440 vs 432).

Include a rough mix or phone bounce for vibe and balance — not instead of stems. Note which effects must stay printed (amp sim on guitar, for example) and which we may replace in the mix.

MIDI and virtual instruments

Bounce soft synths to audio before delivery. MIDI alone works only when we agreed on plugins; otherwise tone changes on our rigs. Freeze tracks in your DAW and verify automation prints.

For takes from our vocal booth or live room, send raw files or our session export; mention the session date so we can match archive within 9 months.

Revisions and notes

You have 2 revision rounds: send timestamps or bar numbers, not “make it warmer”. One email per round with all points beats scattered messages. Beyond included rounds, extra work is hourly or a new quote per terms and conditions.

Mastering is separate via Mastering; deliver the approved mix without a mastering limiter, or ask for a master-ready export when we schedule both steps.

Transfer safely

Large zips via WeTransfer, Drive or another link that stays valid at least 2 days. Put artist and title in the subject. Avoid posting passwords in the same thread as the link — call 020 737 2841 or use a password manager share.

Before upload: no click on the vocal stem, no duplicate exports of the same part, no stereo file hiding two takes unless you say so.

Pre-send checklist

  1. All stems WAV, one sample rate, shared start point.
  2. Folder per song, sensible filenames, tempo/key readme.
  3. Reference rough mix attached.
  4. Offline FX only where agreed.
  5. Contact details and deadline via form or [email protected].

EP or album? Ask upfront about bundle pricing €1,090 and schedule with Lotte. Pair with music rights for podcasts when mixing dialogue with licensed beds.
